Abby Rice
Hearts Ever After

Welcome to Abby Rice Romance

Thanks for stopping by! I’m a romance author and book blogger. And if you’re looking for your next happily-ever-after read, you’ve come to the right spot!

A romance fan since I stumbled across Georgette Heyer’s sassy heroines at age 14, I adore the tension, the build, the chase, and oh, that first kiss. Today, my reading tastes run the gamut — from sweet Historicals to sizzling Contemporaries. And after years as a professional author writing serious non-fiction, I’ve finally stuck a toe in romance-writing waters myself with The Captain’s Kidnapped Bride. (Hope you’ll check out the cover and blurb, below!)

As you’ll see in my Abby Rice blog, I also love blogging about the romance books I’m currently reading. Check out my latest book reviews in the Blog below. Here’s to happily-ever-afters!

I love hearing from readers and fellow authors! If you’d like me to review your book, just drop a line with your book blurb and first chapter. I only review books that capture *my* heart, and just like love itself, reviews here are free. (I can’t promise to review everything I receive, but I love discovering new authors!) Drop me a line here:

The Captains Kidnapped Bride

The Captain's Kidnapped Bride

Hetty's reputation is in tatters after she wakes up aboard a strange ship, headed for Jamaica – with the captain snoring beside her. A fake marriage offers a less-than-ideal solution. But if pulling off a pretend relationship with a total stranger is a challenge, it’s trouble-on-steroids when Hetty discovers there’s no “home” to go back to. A sweet historical romance (1868), with a dash of the paranormal and a heart-warming happily-ever-after.

Snowed In – A Romance Short Story

Some girls have all the luck. Here I was, snowed in with a huge, growly male, not a stitch of clothing over his muscular chest. Raw, big-boned maleness, all sloe-eyes and dark, silky hair. Except . . . the only thing those sloe-eyes were fixed on was the crumb of cookie in my fingers. And […]

Poison Parsnip & Fun Facts From 1887

I’m working on a third time-travel novella, set in 1887. And what a fun trip back in time it’s been, reading the old newspapers to capture the period flavor!          There were wonderful ads, of course, like Genoa barber David DeLong, who doubled as a dentist. And then there […]

Romance Tips: Developing Your Characters

Developing Your Romance Characters        Too many romance novelists pluck their characters straight from a trope. You’ve undoubtedly met these cardboard-cutouts: the mysterious, grumpy loner with the heart of gold. The sweet-but-spunky small-town girl. The couple from opposite sides of the tracks who fall madly in love after one panty-melting, smoldering eye-lock.   […]

Book Review: “The Work of Art”

5.0 rating based on 1,234 ratings

I’ve got a new favorite historical romance author – Mimi Matthews! The stunning cover of “The Work of Art” first drew me in. Inside, the prose proved just as spectacular as the cover. It’s Spring, 1814, and orphaned Phyllida Satterthwaite’s uncle has kindly arranged to introduce her to London society. He’s also arranged for an […]
